Note on hiring

(last updated on 7 October 2025)

Thank you for your interest in joining my lab. I'm always on the lookout for highly motivated and talented people to work on optimization. Please review carefully the guidance below and submit this application form if you’re applying for a position. While I encourage you to contact me with any inquiries, please be aware that due to the high volume of emails, I may not be able to offer individual responses.

Internship

I highly recommend all prospective students to participate in an internship with me before formally applying to the graduate program. While direct application is an option, pursuing an internship first is the most common route for successful applicants: (1) it allows us to get to know each other and lets you experience the lab firsthand; (2) I rarely hire students I haven't worked with before; (3) the POSTECH admission process is highly competitive, and a positive internship record will significantly strengthen your application.

Summer and Winter internships are available. All internships start at the beginning of off-term times (mid-June for Summer, early-January for Winter) and are expected to last at least two months (ideally longer). Applications are accepted until one month prior to the start of each internship (i.e., May for Summer and November for Winter). Selected candidates will be invited for an interview shortly afer the deadline.

🔔 Applications for 2025-26 Winter internship will be received until 30 November 2025.

Graduate program

I take on a few new graduate students each year. Please apply directly to either AI or CSE department, and mention my name in your application. Once you pass the screening phase and reach the advisor-matching stage, please email me (namhoon.lee@postech.ac.kr) and also submit this form.

Postdoc

I'm actively looking for postdocs who are interested in advising students with me in my lab. If you have completed your PhD recently or are finishing it soon, please email me.
